This last time I’ve been doing a few iterations and taking some of my favourite designs and elaborating on the design. I’ll just need to be doing more drawing and breaking from any particular design so I’m free to explore.
I just chose a few of the designs that my peers had been saying had a good shape language.
These are the sketches. As I was working on these, I was coming up with a story to go with it. I think that initially this robot was an irrigating robot. Below it is a well from which the water is pumped, it goes into some kind of chamber where maybe its treated, then goes up through the body out through the arms or back. Maybe this kind of robot would work with a number of others, because each probably couldn’t cover that much ground.
I’m finding that I enjoy the drawing and exploring, but when I run out of ideas, I just feel tired. It is a taxing process that I am not totally sure how to press through that. Maybe it would just be to move on to a different creative project or a different creature. I haven’t worked on another creature design yet.
The Next Step
The next step would be to take some time every day to continue to flesh out the design so that I know it intimately. Then start start silhouettes of other creatures.
